Invoice unpaid or partly paid
Compare the invoice, expected amount, transaction status and related deductions. Record what has actually been applied, rather than treating the invoice face value as an unpaid balance.
Vendor Central · 1P payment help
An unpaid invoice, a disputed deduction and an approval with no traceable payment need different questions. Identify which record is missing before sending the next case reply.

Compare the invoice, expected amount, transaction status and related deductions. Record what has actually been applied, rather than treating the invoice face value as an unpaid balance.
Connect the deduction to its transaction, reason and supporting agreement or claim. Distinguish the validity of the deduction from the separate question of whether it was collected.
Review deduction and allowance questionsKeep the decision, credit or adjustment reference, remittance and cash receipt separate. Approval alone does not establish that a net benefit reached your business.
Trace approval through remittance and cashMark records as available, missing or conflicting. Do not claim a document is attached unless you have checked and attached it. Keep identifying records in your private case work, not in public posts.
Fictional example: a vendor disputes 1,000. Amazon approves 200, but the vendor has not identified a matching credit or payment. The working status is “200 approved, payment not yet verified; 800 remains disputed.” It is not “1,000 recovered” or “case resolved.” All example amounts are invented.
If an apparent credit is offset elsewhere or later reversed, reconcile the current net position before describing the result as recovered. Avoid counting the same benefit in both a credit and a payment.
Work through a partial-approval responseAdapt this structure only after checking the facts:
Thank you for confirming the decision. Our records show [amount] approved, while [remaining issue] is unresolved. We have not yet matched the approved amount to [credit, remittance or other record]. Please identify the applicable transaction reference and explain how it was applied. We can then reconcile the decision with our records.
If the reply repeats a receipt-based denial, the next step may be a shipment/receipt reconciliation rather than another payment request. Review a “cannot locate receipts” response. If the reply changes the reason, identify the new basis and evidence it requires.
This guide does not establish a dispute deadline, eligibility or escalation entitlement. Check the current account and marketplace requirements before submitting; keep Vendor Central and Seller Central workflows separate.
VRI’s free tool helps organize the evidence, identify the unresolved question and prepare a draft you review and submit yourself. It does not inspect your Amazon account, audit it automatically or submit the case for you. Saved cases stay in the browser you use.
